For the last card we kept pretty much to the directions from the Hooray It's Your Day kit instructions:
I love how it looks like this balloon is floating right up into a sunny sky :) And I'm really excited to use this template again for other projects. That is one of the coolest parts about this kit- the spritzing templates that come with it are a durable plastic material that you can use over and over again. So even once I've made all the cards in the kit, I can continue to use this over and over again!
They are only available a couple more days- make sure you don't miss out on this fun tool. Get yours HERE right now!

Hooray It's Your Day: Card 3
I'm back with the third card we made at class this month with the Hooray It's Your Day kit.
The rainbow effect is so much fun with this paper! The white pattern is actually pre-embossed onto the paper- and when you start out it is just a glossy white on a mat white paper. But when you rub ink onto the paper the pattern really comes to life :) The ink doesn't stick to the embossed sections, so those continue to show through the coloring. You can add stripes, or spots, or even stamp onto of this paper and the cool effect with show through.
I left the open spot on the tag to add the birthday later when I'm ready to gift it to someone. Although, I heard the joke that you could always just fill it in with 29 on the front... and then inside you could say "for the 10th time" or something to that effect. I may still have to do that ;)
Don't forget- this kit won't be available much longer! Get it HERE!

Creative Inking Blog Hop: Favorite Retiring Item
Welcome to the May Creative Inking Blog Hop!
This month is all about our favorite retiring items. My pick is of course MDS- I'm gonna miss it so much. But I'm now good and stocked up on downloads thanks to the 30% off sale. So that should last me awhile.
I also choose to feature the Little Moments Project Life Card collection that is retiring. It is filled with so many fun baby images, and I love the orange/yellow/green color scheme that works so well for all babies. I still haven't gotten around to scrapping the infant phase for my second kiddo- so here is the start of his book:
I love how simple Project Life can make scrapbooking- and yet leave me with the option to 'step it up' a bit too. Most the the above elements are from the kit- with only a bit of embellishments and glimmer paper added to it. And by doing it digitally I was able to add a fun background paper and have some of the elements spill over the boundaries of where the pockets would be.
Hope you enjoy! Now hop on over to Kristine's page-
Or if backwards is your thing, go and visit BJ-
Either way, have fun and Flutterby again soon!

Paper Pumpkin and Chocolate- Yum!
I wanted to have some little thank you treats on hand, and April's paper pumpkin kit seemed up to the task :)
I was able to make 4 of these cute little ghiradelli chocolate holders from one yellow and one blue card piece. I first cut them both in half at the scored line. Then the yellow I cut again the short way and the blue the long way (that left a little bit of a tail of the blue to fold around to the back and secure the staple). Then, the stamped portion is just one of the white pieces cut into 4 strips.
I stamped it up using the inks from the April kit and stamps from both the April and March kit (hey Thanks and the stripe along the bottom are April; A Lot and the little star are from March). Then I tied some little bows using left over string from the April kit and attached to the chocolate using a staple. Super cute right?!
Now any time I need to give a quick 'Thanks!' I've got just the treat ready :)

Hooray It's Your Day: Card 2
Sorry I've been MIA all week. I can't believe how the time has flown! But spring is here and more time outside means less time on the computer :)
Without further ado, let's talk stamping!
This is card 2 from the Hooray It's Your Day class we had this month. I love the ombre look that spritzing just the bottom half of the folder gives the card.
This card differs a little from the directions- we used the Melon ink on the outside to give it more color and added some extra washi. I think the little star clip may be my favorite part :)
And here is what it looks like with the file card pulled out. We did keep the Bermuda ink for the sentiment inside, but added lots of extra Melon stars to pull in the wooden stars on the outside. And then the little balloons in the corner make it a party right in the card ;)
Hope you enjoyed today's inspiration. This kit is only available for a little while longer- so grab it before it is gone!

How I'm Backing Up MDS: Part 5 Program Backup
There are a couple of things that you will want to consider when backing up your program files that differ from backing up your content downloads that I will cover today.
Download all Program Installers that Include Content
I am backing up all program installers that included content.
For instance, I had the original MDS on CD, so I already have an external copy of that. However, the MDS Express Trial version that was available in the past had different content on it than the original CDs did. Therefore, although you may be tempted to skip this download you should still grab it if you have it in your download manager.
Also, if you purchased MDS when it was called MDS 2+ you will also want to download these installers- they once again include content (that is what the '+' referred to). If you do not know what I am talking about when I say MDS 2 don't fret- they changed the name back to plain MDS (evidently the 2 confused to many people).
Get the most recent program update
Just reinstalling the program from the program file won't be enough. You will need the most recent update. You can grab that HERE. However, note that this site will only be open during May and a couple days into June... so get it now while you can.
If you ever have to reinstall your program you would do it in this order:
Then you could proceed to install all the content into what should be a completely restored program.
Make sure you also have your program key
Reinstalling your program won't do much good if you don't have your product key. And if you are like me you can't remember where the email with it even is anymore. Never fear. It is stored right in the program itself. Just open up MDS, click MDS->About MDS in the menu, and then click the Support tab. The last line should list your product key. Take a screenshot of this and save it with your program and you should be good to go!

Hooray It's Your Day: Card 1
For this month's class we tackled the Hooray It's Your Day kit... with some modifications to make it even more bright and colorful :)
However, with Mother's Day coming up soon I just HAD to alter one of the cards to be for moms. Isn't it cute?
Instead of spritzing this card using the template we sponged the ink on. I wanted them to have a chance to try out both techniques and see what they liked better. Personally sponging seems less messy to me, so that is my preference :) but spritzing can be quite fun!
I love the bright rainbow along the edge- we created that effect by rubbing sponge daubers in circles. Fun!
One of the gals at my class had the idea to make the center of her flowers pink and the outsides yellow...Oh My Gosh it was gorgeous! I had her put some of the extra tiny wooden stars in the middle and it really made them pop. Love It :)
And don't forget, you can only get this kit until the end of May. At 20 cards for $25 it is quite the steal! And you get to keep the spritzing templates to use again and again!

Creative Connections Event (Part 2)
The Creative Connections event was so much fun I couldn't contain it all in one post! I made it as far as the first set of presentations... but what happened next? Keep reading to hear all the fun!
After the first set of presentations were complete we had more time to mingle, take in all the samples, and SWAP CARDS! Oh...My...Goodness....I came home with so many wonderful samples! I can't wait to share my favorites with you :) Here is the card that I designed for the swap- I made three dozen of these bad boys to trade.
I love how the flower pops off the main center and has bling in the middle :)
We were blessed to have Shannon West from the Stampin' Up! home office with us and she was the next to present. She talked a little about business and then made some adorable samples using the monogram stamp set from the Spring Catalog. They were so cute but I didn't manage to get any pictures of them :( Sorry!
Next up was Lisa Pretto, who showcased some technique classes that she offers. Like this 3 panel window card. How fun right?!
And to wrap up for the day was Dawn Olchefske with her fun fold cards. This pop-up card is what inspired my Paper Pumpkin alternative sample this month. I was so glad she reminded me how to make them.
And that wrapped up the fun of the day! I'll be sure to share some swaps with you in the weeks to come.
Want to be part of the fun at the next event? All you have to do is sign up to be a demonstrator! It is so much fun, and you get a great discount on anything you order... that's why I signed up after all :)

How I'm Backing Up MDS: Part 4 External Backups
Alright. I hope you've got all your content downloaded because now we are going to back it up to a spot external to your computer. The whole point in backing up your installers is to be able to reinstall them in the sad event that your computer crashes, so keeping the installers on your computer would not be an ideal storage location :)
In my video I will cover how to use an external hardrive (or jump drive- which is smaller but works the same way) and how to burn a cd/dvd. Online backup services are also available- but these would be specific to the service you choose, so if you go this route just follow the instructions given by your site.
I plan to keep one of my external copies on a hard drive that we keep at our home... the same one I make backups of all my photos too. The other copy I will make will be on dvd (they hold way more than cds) and storing them at my folks house- in case my computer and our external drive are taken out by the same catastrophe.
I hope this helps you out! Flutterby again soon. I've got a special backup segment for the program files (as opposed to the content files) coming next week.
